Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport. For higher-education students, the most common path is a study period or traineeship abroad with a partner institution, while remaining registered at your home university.
There is no single central “Erasmus student portal” where you submit one application for every country. You start with the International / Erasmus office of your home university. Partner universities, Learning Agreements and grants are organised through that institutional channel.
Eagles Ocean Blue helps you understand the path, prepare documents and motivation materials, and plan visas or relocation once your mobility is confirmed.
Students in short-cycle, Bachelor, Master or Doctoral studies
You must be registered at a higher education institution that participates in Erasmus+
Your stay abroad must be relevant to your degree and agreed in a Learning Agreement
Nationality rules and partnership lists are defined by your home university and the Erasmus+ call
Traineeships may also be possible after graduation in some cases — ask your Erasmus office
Quanto tempo pode ir?
Long-term mobility: usually 2 to 12 months abroad (including blended options with a virtual component)
Short-term mobility: 5 to 30 days abroad (generally as blended mobility)
Up to 12 months of mobility per study cycle (longer exceptions exist for some one-cycle degrees such as medicine)
You can combine study and traineeship mobility within the same cycle if your university allows it
Como funciona — passo a passo
1
Contact your Erasmus office
Ask about open calls, partner universities, language requirements, and internal deadlines (often months before departure).
2
Choose a destination
Shortlist partners matching your programme. Check course catalogues in English (or the teaching language) and credit transfer rules.
3
Prepare your Learning Agreement
Agree the study plan with home and host coordinators before you leave so credits can be recognised.
4
Sign grant & mobility documents
Complete grant agreements, insurance proofs, and any OLS / language assessments required by your university.
5
Travel & study abroad
Register at the host university, keep attendance/transcripts, and stay in contact with both offices.
6
Return & recognition
Submit the Transcript of Records / traineeship certificate so credits are recognised toward your home degree.
Lista típica de documentos
Exact lists vary by university. These are commonly requested:
Valid passport / ID and student enrolment proof
Learning Agreement (study or traineeship)
Grant agreement and bank details for the scholarship payment
Health / travel insurance meeting university requirements
Language certificate or OLS assessment if requested
Housing proof, visa / residence documents when studying outside your citizenship rights
Bolsas e custo de vida
Erasmus+ grants help with travel and living costs but do not always cover everything. Amounts depend on the destination country group and your university’s allocation.
Ask your Erasmus office about top-ups (fewer opportunities, green travel, students with fewer opportunities) and about national or university complementary scholarships.
Budget for housing deposits, local transport, and first-month expenses before the grant arrives.
Dicas práticas
Start 6–9 months early — internal university rankings and partner seats fill quickly
Align courses with your degree plan before you fall in love with a city
Keep digital and paper copies of every signed agreement
Check visa / entry rules early if you are a non-EU citizen studying in the Schengen area
Read the Erasmus Student Charter so you know your rights and obligations
