D1 — Subordinate work visa
For standard employment. The employer usually needs labour-market authorisation (IEFP) before you apply for the visa. Processing is typically longer than highly qualified routes.
D3 — Highly qualified activity / Tech Visa
For qualified professionals and roles under Tech Visa partners. Often faster because a labour-market test is not required when conditions are met.
EU Blue Card
For highly qualified employment meeting education and salary thresholds. Useful if you may later move between EU Blue Card countries.
After arrival — AIMA residence permit
Your visa lets you enter and start the residence process. Book biometrics early; appointment wait times in Lisbon and Porto can be long.
