Career in Italy

Why Look for a Job in Italy?

Italy recruits in manufacturing, hospitality, agriculture, fashion, design, healthcare, and growing tech scenes in Milan, Rome, Turin, and Bologna.

For most non-EU employed workers, Italy uses an annual quota system (Decreto Flussi). Employers must obtain authorisation before you apply for a visa.

After entry you must apply for a permesso di soggiorno for work within the legal deadline.

How to Work Legally

EU/EEA/Swiss citizens can work without a work visa. Non-EU employed workers usually need prior work authorisation within quota rules, then a visa, then a residence permit.

This page provides general information only and is not legal advice. Rules change; always verify with the consulate, immigration authority, and a qualified advisor before applying.

1

Employed work under Decreto Flussi

Most common path for subordinate employment subject to annual quotas. Timing depends on when the quota decree opens.

2

EU Blue Card / highly qualified work

For qualified professionals meeting Italian Blue Card or highly skilled criteria; may follow a different channel than seasonal/quota roles.

3

Entry visa after authorisation

Once authorisation is granted, the consulate issues the visa. Use it within the validity window stated on the authorisation.

4

Permesso di soggiorno for work

Apply at the competent immigration desk/post office kit shortly after arrival; biometrics and permit issuance follow.
